The credit card will use traditional money for purchases and payments. But rather than being rewarded in traditional currencies, the customers will get rewards in bitcoin on their NBX account. This enables an automated and easy way to accumulate crypto savings.
- Offering visa credit cards is one way of closing the gap between digital finance and traditional finance. For people who are new to crypto, it represents an opportunity to take part in the digital economy by getting rewards on their spending. This strategic move takes us one step closer to our goal of becoming a full-service digital asset bank, says NBX CEO Stig Aleksander Kjos-Mathisen.
The card will be delivered by Enfuce, a Finnish major provider of fintech and payment services. A Nordic financial institution will act as a credit partner. The payment card with a cryptocurrency reward will be the first of its kind in the Nordic countries.
– Offering innovation in financial markets is one of the key drivers of NBX. We want to enhance the use of cryptocurrency and allow everyone to take part in this development. The first step is the crypto reward solution. Hopefully, one of the next steps can be card-based solely on cryptocurrency, says Stig Aleksander Kjos-Mathisen.
The rewards will be saved directly to the card holders´ dedicated NBX account. As with all other savings on your NBX account, it can be traded freely between currencies, including NOK, SEK, DKK, or Euro, and it may be withdrawn at any time.
- The size of the reward will depend on the customer's 12-month volume on the platform. It is already possible to start building volume, to ensure you get the best possible rate from launch. Our aim is to offer our best customers a reward of close to 4%, says Stig Aleksander Kjos-Mathisen.
The card is expected to launch later this year in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. More details will be made available as we get closer to launch.
